Something Bigger
Over 1,200 selfless college students will realize the importance of becoming a part of something bigger than themselves on March 3rd, 2018. The students at the University of Northern Iowa come together to recognize the hard work and dedication of raising money for the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.
Just shy of two years ago is when I personally decided I was going to live every day For The Kids. I waS a freshman when I decided to sign up for my first Big Event. Little did I know that I was going to walk out of Maucker Union 12 hours later feeling like I was on top of the world! I wanted to call my parents and all my friends to tell them I had just attended the coolest event that I forever want to be involved in.
I have centered most of my college career around our 58 Miracle Kiddos ever since.
I wish everyone could experience their first UNI DM Big Event in the light that I experienced mine. The moments of watching Morale teach the dance on stage, hearing the Miracle Families tell their stories about why they are standing in front of us, and dancing so hard I almost pulled a muscle—all revolve around the many reasons I still dance two years later.
As the Director of Operations, one of my duties is to bring together an event that will show people why we are here. I hope 1,200+ college students do not have to fight for the next generation. I hope there is a cure so we can dance in celebration.
Until there is a cure, there is a cause.
